Spoken Word - "Eve"

Good morning!

I really enjoy the study of names in the Bible, through the Hebrew language.  It is God's language given to Adam, with lots of nuances and details that only enrich the meanings.  It is God communicating to those who "seek".

Just the other day, as I was going through the definition of a few names, I explored the name "Eve".  I have always heard this name meant "life".  As usual, this is a simplification of a deeper and richer meaning.

I'm glad you asked:  To be exact, "Eve" translates, "Mother of ALL Life".  This brings up an immediate question.  Since Eve was created after animals, vegetation and Adam, how can she be the mother of ALL life? 

She was the first mother - of Cain and Abel.  However, the translation is not "first mother", it is "all life".  Through the richness of this amazing language (Hebrew) we find out that the word "all", in this case, refers to organisms.  Our body is made up of organs; made up of one cell organisms.  Eve is the mother of all life down to one cell organisms.  Really, kinda beautiful when you think about it.

Let's explain a little further.  (I want to be rational, practical and responsible of giving the correct translation.)  I want you to understand in order to see the beauty in this.  As stated above, Adam and all life came before Eve.  BUT . . . she was the first woman; women bear children/give life.  See?  Only women can be called "mothers".  

Another interesting observation:  To show the power of the spoken word, God  gave all animals to Adam for naming; as Adam named it, so it was.  Up until the first sin, both Adam and his wife were called "Adam" which means "human being".  After they sinned through disobedience (the one thing God counts as more important than sacrifice, ISam. 15:22), God pronounced the penalty of death.  Not immediate; just that they would now not live forever, as first planned.  People would have terminal life spans.  AFTER the penalty of death was announced to Adam and his wife, Adam immediately named his wife "Eve", mother of all life.  In his own way Adam was using his power of the spoken word to pronounce life over his wife.

I'm Back

Just couldn't stay away.  My husband and I have relocated to another part of the state.  After months of packing, house hunting and moving, we are settling in.  Not "settled" but settling.  I am sure it will take a matter of years to really set up our permanent location the way we want it.

I am very excited to have finished my book.  It only took about 3 years and was a very emotional ride.  If you are a long standing reader, you will remember a few passages that were posted on this blog.  Just contacted my first publisher and waiting to hear back.  If you are up to it, a short prayer on my behalf would be appreciated. 

Writing is very enjoyable to me.  We are constantly told to use the gift(s) God has given us to serve His work in this life.  From junior high school, I have always enjoyed writing.  I am getting such a late start because I had a pushy English teacher.  Mother always said, "If you want Linda to do something, tell her not to".  When teacher pushed, I rebelled.  Some of us are so bullheaded that we spend half our lives searching for something that we already posses. 

Anyway, I have missed my blog.  Who knew?  The few readers I had were from around the world; few but scattered.  I certainly can't reach such an audience any other way.  Maybe, just maybe, someone can learn something from me or be inspired by one of my many mistakes to forge ahead without the same blunder(s).

In spite of not posting for almost a year, I have managed to continue studying and I am very anxious to share so much.

Interesting: The country of China was in existence during the time Jesus walked the earth. In the ancient history of China, there is recorded a world wide eclipse at mid day the day Jesus was crucified.  They also have the earth quake on record.

The sign on the cross over the head of Jesus read "Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews" in three languages: Hebrew, Greek and Latin. The common representation of the sign today; the famous "INRI" is an acronym for this title taken from the Latin translation.

In Hebrew, "Bethlehem" translates "House of bread". How interesting that; the "Bread of Life" was born in the "House of Bread".

Interesting: On the night Jesus was born, night was turned to day by the brightness of angels filling the sky with their presence. On the day Jesus died, noon was turned to dark by God.

Day 1 of creation, God called forth the light. Wait a minute, wait a minute! He didn't create the sun until day 4. What light did He call forth? Jesus! the light of the world was called forth on the first day to create everything.

Hidden Message

Hidden messages in the Bible are numerous.  To find and understand them all you need to be Jewish.  The Jewish people do not accept the Christian Bible and few Christians study the Hebrew language or customs.  This gives us a mystery - actually many mysteries.  I can only imagine the understanding and increase in faith if Christians spoke Hebrew and Jewish people accepted the Bible.  

Numbers reveal vast amounts of knowledge throughout old and new testaments.  Names, are another way of reading more meaning.  Let's take just one example:  the "Begats" in Genesis 5.  There is a significance to any statement the first time it appears in the Bible.  The first listing of Begats is no exception.


First, let us interpret the names in order they appear:
NAME                    MEANING
Adam     -                 Man

Seth     -              appointed

Enosh     -              mortal

Cainan     -            sorrow

Mahalalel     -     blessed God

Jared     -           descending

Enoch     -             teacher 

Methuselah     -     death will bring

Lamech      -        despairing 

Noah     -                 rest 

Put it together:  
Man was appointed mortal sorrow. The blessed God descended as teacher.  His death will bring despairing rest.

Translation:
Man sinned and was punished.  Jesus came down as teacher.  His death will bring sorrowful rest.

I cannot say that I understand the "sorrowful" rest unless it refers to the disappointment of many people who did not understand His returning.  Or maybe it is sad, what has happened to the world that He is going to return. 

However, there is a definite message here and it is about "the blessed God" who "came down".  That is Jesus!  Do you see the significance here?  It is a prophecy.  Jesus is coded into a message in the fifth chapter of the first book of the Bible.  (By the way, the number five represents the grace of God; which Jesus brought to man kind.)  Jesus is not born as a man for another 5,000 years.

How many other "hidden" meanings are there?  I would guess thousands.  What an amazing journey to find them !  What an amazing God to code His word for those who will seek and find.  This is the "Divine Order" of God's language in the Bible.
